Burj Khalifa
BURJ DUBAI
Burj Dubai skyscraper (Burj meaning tower) is 818 meters tall comprised of 162 floors. Completion date December 2009.
It will include a hotel and private residential apartments and was reported to be sold out in just 8 hours.
Burj Dubai is located on the first Interchange along the Sheikh Zayed Road near Dubai’s main business district Deira.
The primary builders involved are Samsung Engineering & Construction and Besix along with Arabtec. Turner Construction Company was chosen as the construction manager. The total budget for the project was a massive $4.1 billion US dollars and for the whole entire “Downtown Dubai” was $20 billion US dollars.

Palm Jumeirah

One of the most ambitious projects to be taken on in Dubai was Palm Jumeirah. This was a vision to expand on Dubai’s shoreline and to make the impossible, possible – creating land out of water. The Palms have become an icon for Dubai where luxury hotels, theme parks and villas are located.
The Palm is an extension to the shore line of Dubai creating a further 78 kilometers! Around 4000 residences and 32 luxury hotels besides a host of apartments and malls and shopping areas have been so far constructed here. The designing is such that it will resemble a Palm tree with a trunk, 17 fronds and also a crescent to work as a water breaker.
A day on the Palm is well worth a visit. Whatever you wish to do, there is something for all to enjoy!
Dubai Mosque
DUBAI MOSQUE
The Grand Mosque is one of Dubai’s best known landmarks. It is the largest mosque in Dubai standing at 231ft (70 meters) it holds a capacity of 1200 worshippers. The best time to view is at night when the mosque is lit up displaying its true beauty.
It originally opened in 1900 A.D as a Kuttab (Quranic School) where children learnt to recite the Quran from memory.
The Grand Mosque Dubai is situated on the Bur Dubai side of the creek near the ruler’s court and is of sand colour blending in with the natural traditional theme of the area. It was made up in Persian style implementing blue mosaics and wooden shutters with stained glass panels.
Non- Muslims cannot enter the Grand Mosque, but they can visit the minaret and take pictures of the mosque from outside.
